about

Dedicated to Freedom Fighters Everywhere, Past, Present & Future

Reviewed by Independent Music News as follows:

The lyrics grip from the outset: “You hold me with your Arms” - though the listener – thrown by the studied ambiguity - wonders if these arms refer to limbs or weapons. A relationship? A national dictator? Or perhaps a multi-national? This captive is in trouble yet her spirit is intact. She sticks to her principles despite imminent harm and you can’t help but sing along: “And to be free from tyrants/violence and their company/its cruelty”.

lyrics

Prisoner

You hold me with your Arms
You threaten me with harm
You demand I accept your way

Will you blind me with a smile?
Treat me to your bile?
Claim I choose this fate?

Underneath the stars
Another takes my place
Underneath the stars
We see your disgrace

All that I wanted
Was truth and dignity
All that I fought for
Was the right to be free

And to bring an end to
Violence and its tyranny ...
And your cruelty

The years will pass us by
The tears of love will cry
Will you understand why?

Your deeds will be recalled
Your deeds will be appalled
But you don't care at all

Somewhere far and near
Another takes my place
Somewhere far and near
We see your disgrace

All that I wanted
Was truth and dignity
All that I fought for
Was the right to be free

And bring an end to
Tyrants and their company
And their cruelty

Underneath the stars
Another takes my place
Underneath the stars
We see your disgrace

All that I wanted
Was truth and liberty
All that I fought for
Was respect and dignity

So bring an end to
Violence and its tyranny
And its cruelty
